It has been a very slow start this year at Caer Alyn due to the weather and our few volunteers having other commitments on a Saturday.
Last Saturday we finally got back to Trench 14A to exam the effects of winter and inquisitive horses! Thankfully, the tarpaulin has protected the trench on the whole and only slight damage from the horses. The trench has had a clean back removing leaves and earth accumulated over the winter. Hopefully we can continue next week.
However, Karen Gavin’s oak has had a bit of damage from the horses/deer. The lower branches have been nibbled and used as a scratching post but the upper branches seem to be ok!
Alan Brown, our director is doing well. His leg is healing and his eyes are improving which is great for the future. Unfortunately, he can’t get down to the trenches ….yet.
Due to circumstances beyond our control, Trench 3’s report has not been finished yet but it is nearly done! Annabelle and Alan are tidying up the last snags.
